But
we
are
sorry
to
say
that
this
night
isn't
only
about
fun
and
games.
We
also
have
two
GREAT
speakers
followed
by
an
awards
segment
hosted
by
John
Mancini,
President
of
AIIM
International.
Our
first
speaker
is
Colonel
Randall
Larsen,
USAF
(Ret),
who
will
give
us
his
unique
perspective
on
the
current
state
of
Homeland
Security.
if
you
haven't
hear
and
of
his
presentations
before,
check
out
these
quotes:
“Randy
Larsen
is
one
of
America’s
leading
experts
on
homeland
security.”—Chris Cox, Chairman, House of
Representatives
Committee
on
Homeland
Security
“Larsen
advocates
a
seldom
used
tool
to
fight
terrorism—common
sense."—Bob
Schieffer,
CBS
News
"Larsen
explains
how
to
ask
the
right
questions—from
the
Oval
Office
to
the
front
office
to
your
kitchen
table."—Bruce
van
Voorst,
former
Senior
Correspondent
for
National
Security, Time
magazine
Our
second
speaker
is
Ken
Thibodeau,
the
Program
Director
of
the
National
Archives
and
Records
Administration's
(NARA)
Electronic
Records
Archives
(ERA).
NARA
began
development
of
the
ERA
system
in
September
2005.
Dubbed
“the
archives
of
the
future,”
ERA
is
ground-
breaking
in
its
scope,
the
technical
challenges
it
addresses,
the
level
of
resources
invested
in
it,
and
in
its
likely
impact
on
records
management
in
the
U.S.
Government
and
beyond.
NARA
will
use
the
system
not
only
for
transfer,
preservation
and
access
to
historically
valuable
electronic
records,
but
also
as
the
basis
for
business
process
modernization
of
the
lifecycle
management
of
records
of
all
types.
The
system
is
scheduled
to
go
live
this
summer. Mr.
Thibodeau
will
report
on
progress
and
prospects
in
the
ERA
development.
He
will
discuss
lessons
NARA
has
learned
as a
rookie
in
the
arena
of
major
system
development
and
reveal
tactics
NARA
has
used
successfully
to
generate
and
maintain
support
for
the
ERA
initiative.
He
will
also
address
major
challenges
in
both
technology
and
records
management
that
NARA
and
any
entity
face
in
the
effort
to
provide
sustained
access
to
authentic
electronic
records. |

and
swear
in
the
new
NCC-AIIM
Board. John joined AIIM in May 1996. Working together with the AIIM Board, staff, and thousands of volunteers around the world, Mancini's goal is to help AIIM connect the users and suppliers of document and business process management technologies and services. Mancini believes that ECM tools and technologies provide solutions to help users with four key business drivers: continuity, collaboration, regulatory compliance, and reduced costs. One particularly compelling issue is the emergence of Records Management as a major influence in the ECM industry. |
